Why Solar Power?

Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast are well known for their abundance of sunshine. Sustainable Man uses Solar power to tap into that magnificent resource and use it to generate electricity every day the sun shines!

The Business Council of Australia forecasts electricity costs to double by 2015. This means now more than ever is the time to install solar power and cut down on your power bill. Renewable energy means that you can reduce or even eliminate your electricity costs.

Solar power is the one of the cleanest and greenest forms of energy production on the planet. It is versatile, advanced and reliable. Solar power uses photovoltaic (PV) solar panels which turns sunlight into electricity. This solar energy generated from the solar panels can then be used to power your home. Solar power is a fantastic way to reduce your carbon footprint, promote renewable energy and save cut the price of your electricity bill.
Much of Australia’s electricity comes from coal-fired generation. The burning of coal to produce electricity has resulted in Australia being one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gas emissions per person in the world. Generating electricity from the sun means that you will be replacing coal fired electricity with clean green renewable energy and reducing the production of harmful greenhouse gases.

The environmental benefits for solar energy are huge. Solar energy is clean, renewable and sustainable. It does not pollute our air by releasing carbon dioxide or any other chemicals into the atmosphere like many traditional forms of electricity generation. Solar energy does not contribute to global warming and can actually lead to the reduction of harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

Using the power of the sun to create electric current at the junction of two substances, photovoltaic (or PV) technology is probably the most benign method of power generation currently in use. This is because photovoltaic cells produce no emissions; use no fuel and the silicon used in solar modules (also known as solar panels) is non-toxic.

In addition, BP Solar‘s cell production process makes extensive use of recycled materials and even uses waste from other industries as raw material, minimizing harmful impact over the entire course of development.

At Sustainable Man we are constantly aware of the environmental impact of producing a product vs. the benefit of that product in your home. A BP Solar system can generate the amount of energy used in its production in between one and four years, depending on where the system is installed.
